We are currently recruiting for a Paralegal to join a national client of ours based in Coventry.

Job title: Paralegal

Location: Coventry

Duration: Initial 12-week contract, with high possibility of been made Perm based on performance.

Start date: Immediate

Pay: £10.26 to £11.28 p/h

Hours: Monday to Friday 35 hours per week, 9-5pm.

Working within the Underwriting Team on company templates, you will draft and review NDAs, policy wordings, client contracts, reinsurance schedules and various other agreements on behalf of the company. Providing support to the Underwriting Team you will act on legal matters and liaison with the companies legal teams and external lawyers.

Duties and responsibilities to include: -

  • Responsible for drafting, reviewing and updating company contracts, policy wordings and documents.
  • To understand, review and make recommendations of change to improve and develop our products and documentation.
  • Resolve contract-wording queries from Clients, Insurers and assist with the negotiations of contract wordings with these parties.
  • To evaluate complex clauses in various contracts including but not limited to reinsurance, pecuniary loss, customer insurance, distribution, and supplier agreements.

What you'll be doing: -

  • Ensure consistency of policy wordings and contracts throughout the company.
  • Any other duties that the company may reasonably require, included but not limited to input into new and existing product development from a legal viewpoint.
  • The review of and commentary on existing and proposed contract wordings.
  • Provide advice to the Underwriting Team and Global's Excom on contract and insurance product related matters.
  • Liaising with legal teams and external lawyers.

Experience: -

Essential:

  • Good understanding of insurance products and insurance contract law.
  • Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail.
  • Supplier and distributor agreements
  • Familiar with the principles of insurance regulation
  • In-depth understanding of:
    • insurance wordings.
    • standard clauses of specialist insurances.

Desirable:

  • Excellent language skills
  • A second European language
  • A Law degree or relevant experience (ideally 2-5 years)
