As a QA Engineer you will be responsible for reviewing quality specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback. You will create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases, estimating, prioritising, planning and coordinating quality testing activities and provide technical and software support to end users in line with contracted SLAs. This will include triage of incoming support requests, issue diagnosis, evaluation of workaround options, root cause analysis and resolution for low level technical issues (e.g. configuration, data formatting).
Quality Assurance Engineer Responsibilities:
Quality Assurance Testing
Adhere to the Defined QA Workflow and Quality Principles and Manage iteration capacity requirements within the team
Define and performs iteration and regression testing and track testing progress during the course of an iteration
Manage software defects tracking, reporting, follow-up, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to the development team and management
Help to develop and manage quality practices within the team
Develop testing strategies that address areas such as database impacts, functional software use cases, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability
Undertake testing in different environments and across different browsing applications
Follow established automation and performance tests practices
Help to builds new automation test scripts (desirable)
Plan test schedules or strategies with development team and syncs around project scope or delivery dates
Work with developers to define and create Unit Tests to assist in Unit Test Peer Reviews
Attend team ‘code review’ sessions to gain technical insight for the application being built
Engage with the team prior to the start of each iteration to review User Story documentation with the purpose of identifying potential gaps in requirement or test scenarios
Maintain historical data of test results and QA artefacts
Write bug reports and performs performance / stress / functional testing
Develop a good understanding of the scope and purpose of software being utilised
Learn new forward packages and business processes
Use the case management system to prioritise daily activity to ensure incidents and requests are resolved and managed in an efficient way
Assess the ticket, solving at source where possible and escalating to other team members where required
Engage internal and external resources as required to resolve tickets
Provide technical support and guidance to users
Quality Assurance Engineer Requirements:
Manual and Unit testing
Knowledge of testing and development cycles
Ability to build in-depth test scripts
Beginner to Intermediate knowledge of creating SQL queries
Understanding of cross-functional impact of changes in relationship to software updates, bug fixes, new releases of software internally or externally developed
Experience with Transact SQL e.g. insert, update, delete, multiple joins.
Ability to follow ISTQB manual testing procedure
Testing websites using multiple browsers e.g. Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer
Experience using an IDE (Ex. Visual Studio)
Experience with and testing tools (e.g. PostMaster)
Understanding of Agile processes
Understanding of coding standards and change control processes
Excellent Customer Service
Experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g. LoadRunner)
Experience with automated testing tools (e.g. Selenium)
