About role:

We are looking for a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant to work within our specialist residential services for adults with autism often accompanied by complex needs and behaviours that challenge. 

The successful post holder role will work alongside qualified SLTs supporting 4 satellite services; Elston House, Birches, Beeches and Pines. These services are located in Retford, Newark and Mansfield with a main base of Broughton House (Newark).

Job Role:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and interested individual to work as part of the Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) team. The successful post holder will have a base of Broughton House but workload will be focussed to satellites services in the local area.

This post will combine clinical and administrative support roles: you will be working directly with individual residents or groups to deliver therapy programmes, under the direction of a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), supporting SLTs in assessment of resident's communication skills, reporting on residents progress, providing support with resources for individuals and contributing to the development of the total communication environment.  You will receive regular supervision and, as part of the SLT service, be eligible for training. 

Candidate Profile:

It is essential to be shortlisted for this role, you must submit a supporting statement or cover letter outlining:

  • you demonstrate an genuine interest in speech, language and communication needs.
  • you have experience of working with young people/adults with autism, learning disabilities and/or behaviour that challenges or within a health or social care setting.
  • You are able to competently use computers and a range of software i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer.
  • You demonstrate the ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • You are able to take instruction from other and seek clarification where required to complete a task.
