Get paid to have fun!
Social isolation is no fun; in fact it’s proven to shorten lives. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable older people and support us in providing life extending fun and friendship through our social clubs.
Our clubs are run by volunteers and your role will be to support our volunteers in running the clubs. Whether that means assisting them with a risk assessment, helping them balance the books recruiting volunteers or, in the absence of a volunteer, leading club activities in everything from exercise and cooking clubs to dancing and singing, games and quizzes.
Support Group Coordinator Responsibilities:
• Working towards clubs becoming self sufficient in terms of volunteer teams and membership numbers;
• Working with clubs and volunteers to create new activities and inspiring clubs programmes;
• Ensuring clubs comply with club policies, procedures and agreements;
• Alongside other Brendoncare staff, recruiting and supporting new volunteers including providing emotional and practical support to ensure they have the confidence to run the clubs;
• Facilitating both formal and informal engagement with members, actively listening to feedback from club members and volunteers.
The key is that you will be a clear point of contact for the club volunteers, and will support them in line with our values and strategic aims.
Support Group Coordinator Requirements:
**Please note that from 11 November 2021 this post requires the post holder to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 unless clinically exempt**
Your experience for this role may well come from your life outside of work, whether that’s being involved in putting on community/fundraising events, volunteering or working with volunteers. You must be energetic, enthusiastic and well organised with IT skills and financial awareness. We would particularly welcome applications from people with singing, dance or creative arts skills.
You’ll also be able to work with a wide range of people in an inclusive way, be familiar with the voluntary sector and have an understanding of the issues affecting older people.
What are we offering?
Contracted hours are 18 -20 hours per week depending on location (£20,527 FTE - £10,557 or £11,730 pro rata) covering Mid West Hampshire. The positions will be home based with frequent visits to clubs and from time to time to Central Office in Winchester. You will be expected to have a car and a full clean driving licence to effectively cover the area. Mileage and expenses can be claimed. Clubs are held at various times during the week and weekends so a flexible approach to working hours will be required.
How do I apply?
Please send your CV along with a covering letter outlining why you think you would be perfect for this role.
We will be reviewing applications as we receive them. Brendoncare reserves the right to close the vacancy if sufficient applications have been received.
To ensure we can comply with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021 (“the Regulations”), any offer of employment made for a role which includes working in or attending a registered care home will be conditional upon you providing evidence that you are fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (or will be at the time you start your role) or you providing satisfactory evidence that you are clinically exempt from such vaccination (“the Vaccination Condition). Please do not proceed with this application if you cannot comply with the Vaccination Condition.
You may have experience of the following: Group Coordinator, Social Care, Charity, Support Group Assistant, Activity Group Coordinator, Support Group Coordinator, Support Worker, Third Sector, Not for Profit, NFP, etc.
