We’re expanding our Web Services Team!
At York ensuring that the Council is open and available to everyone is a key priority. You could be part of the team who provide responsive and high quality online services for our customers; it’s an exciting time to join us, as our online presence grows.
As more of our customers use digital media, we’re looking for two Assistant Web Content Officers, to join our small but far-reaching Web Services Team, to manage the council’s growing online offer.
We want to increase the availability of web-based services and continue developing our websites so they’re easy to use and more customer-focused – providing an ‘open door’ to other services, whilst remaining secure, private and meeting accessibility laws.
Web Content Officer Responsibilities:
This is a varied and interesting role where, in addition to ‘day to day’ responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to work on innovative projects. For example; one week you may be working on supporting Customer Services with the introduction of new CRM technologies, then the next, be developing specialist content for sustainable travel, or major construction projects in the city.
Web Content Officer Requirements:
• We’re looking for candidates who are skilled and experienced in designing and creating visually appealing websites, who have excellent attention to detail and outstanding digital communication skills.
• Ideally you’ll possess knowledge of content management and search engine optimisation. A willingness to learn and develop, in addition to a positive attitude towards collaborative working, is essential.
• Knowledge of local government would be beneficial, but is not essential.
If you’re looking for a new challenge, to develop your career, or you’re interested in the diversity of work a Local Authority could offer, then we would welcome your application.
As this role is public facing, applicants will need to demonstrate, at interview, their competency to converse and provide advice and guidance to members of the public, in spoken English to CEFR level C2: Can express him/herself spontaneously at length with a natural conversational flow, avoiding or backtracking around any difficulty so smoothly that the person with whom they are conversing is hardly aware of it.
