An opportunity has arisen to build on the success and strengths of our system to shape and develop it to meet the evolving needs of the organisation. 

Your new role

A key member of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Division supporting National Highways you will take the lead in developing the next phase of the Health Safety and Wellbeing Management System. 

We have identified opportunities for improvement. You will make those a reality. At the same time, you will bring a fresh perspective and ideas for change. 

You will be the focal point for the Health Safety and Wellbeing Management System and Health and Safety Management Assurance.

Engaging with senior leaders and colleagues across the organisation you will shape strategy, procedures and working practices.

You will lead a small team to build strong relationships with colleagues to deliver this important work. You will also manage a budget for the development and publication of content for the management system.

To be successful you will have applied experience of;

  • Developing and managing health and safety management systems. 
  • Planning and managing programmes of assurance to deliver consistent, quality outputs that inform management action. 
  • Working with senior leaders to develop organisational strategy and plans for improving health, safety and wellbeing performance.
  • Working knowledge of UK guidance on health, safety and wellbeing management systems, HSG 65 and ISO 45001.
  • Applied risk management and governance in decision making.  
  • NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent in Health and Safety.
